On December 8th, 2016, I received the Falconer Award from the WI Governor's Committee for People With Disabilities. Michael Falconer served as a model of commitment and perseverance to disabled and non-disabled persons. As a person with a disability, Micheal demonstrated to others how overwhelming odds could be overcome with imagination, humor, and hard work. He was also a relentless advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities to lead meaningful lives. He pushed the system to respond to all of the needs of its citizens. The Micheal J. Flaconer Distinguished Service Award was developed to recognize an individual who has carried on Michael's tradition of being an agent for change. I feel so honored and humbled to have received this award. When my accident happened, I never would have imagined that I would receive such an honor. Thank you Ramsey Lee for nominating me!
